Dorp van die Jaar
Uvongo was announced as the KZN winner of the Kyknet Kwela “Dorp van die Jaar” competition. This means a lot to Uvongo in particular, and the South Coast in general, especially the free marketing and exposure which our area so desperately needs.
“A big thank you must go to all our residents who voted for Uvongo and, many of them sent their full quota of thirty sms’s. According to the producers, a record. Well done.
Also, a big thank you to my Ward 19 Committee members, Alan Bosch, Barry Smit, Ernest Booysen, Klasi Booysen and Hardus Coetzee for, with me, driving this process and putting together the programme for the Kwela shoot.
Only two provincial winners have been announced so far, the Western Cape and KZN. The other seven will be announced on Kwela channel 144 on DSTV in the next seven weeks with the final round of voting to take place from 26 May to 1 June to determine the South African “Dorp van die Jaar” winner. I shall remind everyone of this going forward.
